THE ELMINA CASTLE.(GHANA'S FIRST TRADING POST)

     On a large scale.Ghana has several tourist attractin site of nature and human activities such as the the castles, wildlife reserves ,unique natural rocks and vegetation formation and lot of water falls that has benefits the individuals and the nation as a whole of which people travel all over the nation to visit our wonderful tourist site.Talking about one of the most important castles in Ghana, we talk about one of the famous castle located in the cenral part of Ghana,  the Elmina castle .

         The Elmina castle was built by the portugese in 1482 as Sao Jorge da Mina(St George of the Mine castle) also known as Feitora da Mina) in present day Elmina, Ghana.It was the first trading post built on the Gulf of guinea, so it is the oldest European building in existence below the sahara.Fist established as a trade settlement, the castlelater became one of the most important stops on the route of the atlantic slave trade where the Dutch seized the fort from the portugese in 1642 and the slave continuedfron thee Dutch untill 1814.

              The atlantic slave trade, Elmina Castle renovation, August 2006 by the seventeenth century,most trade in West Africa concentrated on the sale of slaves.Sao Jorge da Mina played a major and significant part in the slave trade system.The castle acted as a depot where slave where brought in batter trade fashion from local African chiefs and kings.The slaves,the slaves often captured by the  in the African interior by the slaves catchers of coastal tirbes were sold to the portugese traders in exchange for goodssuch as textiles .The slaves were held captive in the castle before exiting through the castle's in famous''Door of No Return''to be transported and resold in newlyBrazil and portugese colonies. 

           However, Tourism offers a good alternative to ensure to some more industries for generating income both naturally and privately.Tourist attraction in Ghana has not only serve as a picinic area,  educational area and a camping area but also a reliable source and has had a signifanct impart on the economt of the country.This is the fun part you can touch and a site for educational purpose.
